From HR professionals and hiring managers to tech leads and company founders, we’ll uncover the impact of these hires on long-term hiring costs, onboarding processes, and talent management strategies within their tech departments.

Episode 2: Andrew Winter from Zaiko

In this episode, Bukky Adejobi and I had the pleasure of hosting Andrew Winter, CTO & CPO at Zaiko, a Japanese tech company in live event management and ticketing solutions.

We explored the nuances of tech hiring in Japan, focusing on the inclusion of bootcamp graduates and professionals transitioning into software development careers. Andrew shared Zaiko’s inspiring journey, emphasizing their dedication to diversity and innovation.

Episode 3: Johnny Shields from TableCheck

In this episode, we have the opportunity to speak with Johnny Shields, the Founder and CTO of TableCheck. TableCheck is a reservation management platform that is truly transforming the way restaurants handle bookings and interact with customers.

During our conversation, we delve into the fascinating link between transferable skills and experiences, the power of passion, and the importance of maintaining a curious mindset for software development bootcamp graduates.

Episode 4: Yu Shimizu from Peatix

In this episode, Bukky and I spoke with Yu Shimizu, the head of HR at Peatix, a global event management and ticketing platform.

Yu-san gave her insights from a human resources perspective on hiring junior engineers.

Episode 4: Christian Forestell from Evolany

Bukky and I spoke with Christian Forestell, co-founder of Evolany, a Japanese startup developing AI-driven chatbots and communication platforms for businesses.

With 45% of the development team being bootcamp grads, Christian shared his insights on topics such as GitHub and portfolio tips and interview preparation.

Episode 5: James McCarty from Zehitomo

In the final episode of the series, Bukky and I spoke with James McCarty, co-founder of Zehitomo. Zehitomo is a Tokyo-based startup that was created to fix how people find and hire local service professionals in Japan

James shared his insights into Zehitomo’s startup culture and approach to hiring and building an engineering team.
