Japan Digital Nomad Visa: Services for Nomads

Somewhere to live, somewhere to work

If you’re coming to Japan on the Japan Digital Nomad Visa, you’ll need a place to live and perhaps other services, such as a co-working space.

Here is a curated list of services provided by people I know, or recommended to me by past Japan nomads. It’s a short list right now, but I’ll add new services as I learn about them.

Accommodation

My friends at Somado can help digital nomads settle into Japan easily and affordably.

They have access to 1,100+ apartments in Tokyo at much lower prices than Airbnb and will be expanding to Osaka and Fukuoka soon.

The People: John Ahn

John Ahn photoJohn Ahn founded Somado in 2025 to make Japan more accessible for digital nomads and globally minded professionals. After experiencing firsthand how rigid leases and costly rentals made living in Tokyo difficult, he set out to create a flexible alternative that blends housing, coworking, and community.

With a background in finance, strategy, and startups, John brings both business discipline and entrepreneurial creativity to Somado. His vision is simple: build a new way of living in Japan — one that’s flexible, connected, and community-driven.
